Presenting Nagoya, Japan

Located at the heart of central Japan, Nagoya has a population of more than 2 million. This is one of Japan's major cities and an important industrial and cultural center. Its rich natural environment provides the backdrop for scenic areas such as Ise Bay, the Nobi Plain, the Kiso River and many historic attractions such as the Nagoya Castle.

As big cities go, Nogoya is pretty small-town in attitude, as well as by reputation - and is often referred to as a "rural city" by Japanese outsiders. Of course, this has its benefits, one being safety. One can feel perfectly safe waiting for the last subway train of the evening while counting the contents of one's wallet in plain view of other passengers.

Notwithstanding its reputation, Nagoya is certainly no Mayberry! The metropoitan area is home to over 6 million people and the Nagoya area is home to a number of major corporations including Toyota Motor Corporation, Mitsubishi, and Panasonic.
